Hawthorn have picked up former Melbourne Storm academy player Matt Hill as a category B rookie as one of two recruitments from rival sports ahead of preparations for the 2025 season.
Hill, 20, joins the club from their rival code neighbours with an Aussie rules pedigree, having played the sport as a junior.
The Territorian talent from Katherine was also a member of the Gold Coast Academy at under 15s level before a code-switch to join the Brisbane Broncos.
He was later a Storm First Nations Pathways Program member and played in the club's NSW Rugby League under 21s Jersey Flegg competition.
Hill joins the Hawks alongside former basketball prospect Jaime Uhr-Henry.
Hawthorn national recruiting and list manager, Mark McKenzie said the pair, despite being "relatively raw…possess enormous upside".
"...at 20 years of age, Matt has shown in his young sporting career that he is a naturally gifted athlete with exciting speed, in addition to playing several years of footy as a junior, he has immense potential," McKenzie said.
"Given time to develop, we're confident both Jaime and Matt can make an impact in our program in the near future."
