Collingwood's Bobby Hill has dominated with four goals in the opening half of a hotly contested AFL grand final contest against Brisbane.

Hill opened his account with the Pies' second prior to the Lions hitting the scoreboard before coming to life in the second term with three as his side wrestled back a slim lead.

His second came after marking in front of Brisbane's Keidean Coleman for a 45 degree set shot from 40 out before soaring for a hanger to bring Collingwood's crowd to their feet in the shootout.

The 23-year-old weaved through traffic before snapping on his left for a fourth.

Despite Collingwood's productivity in front of goal, a failure to kick straight has kept the Lions in it, at least as far as the score reads.

Brisbane looked the better side for much of the contest, thanks in large part to Coleman's efficiency around the ground.

He's collected a game-high 22 disposals and at times presented as the only Lion willing to take the game on through the guts coming out of half back.

Coleman's silky left boot has regularly got his side moving forward, often finding the outlet.

It's helped the Lion's rose to the occasion by making of their opportunities to set up a mouthwatering second half.

Despite failing to register a stat through the first term, Charlie Cameron quickly impacted with goals from his first and third touch of the footy.

Almost immediately after the opening bounce to restart the contest, Cameron snapped on his left 10 for goal before sections of the crowd had stopped singing his trademark tune 'country roads' which had blared through the speakers during the break.

Collingwood lead Brisbane 9.9 (63) - 9.3 (57) at half time.
