The National Indigenous Times will officially launch distribution of its print edition in every state and territory capital as part of its 20th anniversary celebration on Tuesday.

The launch of NIT's national syndication is facilitated by agreements with News Corporation, Australian Community Media and Seven West Media.

The 100 per cent Indigenous-owned paper's national syndication follows the relaunch of the National Indigenous Times website and expansion of the team of journalists nationally, including its recruitment of a deputy editor.

NIT co-owner and managing director Clinton Wolf said one of the goals of the national expansion is to shed a fair light on all Indigenous issues in Australia.

"We want to tell a lot of good stories about what Indigenous individuals, organisations and entities are up to," he said.

"I think it's also about shining a light on the inequities that in society and that these issues need to be addressed.

"As great of a country that Australia is there's still a lot of work to do to ensure First Nations people are treated with the respect they deserve."

Co-owner and NIT executive chairman Wayne Bergmann said the expansion marks a major milestone for Indigenous-owned and operated media, with the paper now reaching millions of Australians.

"Our recent rapid expansion reflects our mission to be Australia's leading media voice on Indigenous affairs and the country's most comprehensive and trusted Indigenous-owned and operated news company," said Mr Bergmann.

"We are for celebrating the successes and achievements of Indigenous Australians, advocating for Reconciliation, and ensuring the stories of Indigenous Australians are properly told. As a fully Indigenous-owned publication, we seek to inform all Australians from an Indigenous perspective."

NIT's national syndication will be celebrated by an event hosted by Minister for Indigenous Australians, Linda Burney Tuesday evening at Parliament House in Canberra.
