A social media video appearing to show a police officer strike an Aboriginal man during an arrest in WA's Pilbara has been viewed more than 50,000 times.

Footage shows five people being escorted from a South Hedland residence when one man, who appears to be speaking without resisting, is struck in the ribs by a police officer.

Afterwards, he is seen moving more slowly with a stooped stance.

Meanwhile another police officer throws an alcohol box over the neighbouring fence of the property.

The video was uploaded by Facebook user Jay Tee who in the caption described the incident as what happens when police officers body camera is turned off.

"I was punched in the ribs and my face was pushed into a pole," Facebook user Jay Tee writes.

National Indigenous Times has contacted WA Police for comment.
