Two of Australia's leading advocacy groups for First Nations businesses are extending their working relationship to create further opportunities for Indigenous companies in Western Australia.

Waalitj Foundation and Supply Nation began working together in 2020 to support a vibrant and sustainable First Nations business sector.

That successful partnership has been extended to June 2024 and will continue to empower Indigenous businesses to grow and achieve their goals and aspirations.

Waalitj Hub general manager Shane Devitt said working together with Supply Nation was a great fit, as both groups wanted to cultivate competitive and sustainable Indigenous businesses.

"Connecting with existing organisations such as Supply Nation further improves the quality and range of support services we offer Indigenous Businesses," he said.

Supply Nation CEO, Michelle Deshong, said Waalitj Hub provided great facilities, including mentoring from business coaches, industry connections and independent professional services and collaborative space for Indigenous businesses.

She said Supply Nation had plans to relocate a staffer to the Waalitj Hub in Perth as well as offering client information sessions to boost Supply Nation certification.

"It has proved to be extremely beneficial for our team to co-locate and engage with the community, while also supporting a community-led business in Perth," Ms Deshong said.

The Waalitj Hub, which empowers First Nations peoples through education, employment and business opportunities, has supported more than 300 Indigenous businesses and 159 procurement clients in Western Australia.

Since 2009, Supply Nation has worked with thousands of First Nations businesses to help them flourish and shape the ever-growing Indigenous business community.

Supply Nation currently connects over 4,000 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses with over 700 member organisations.
