PKKP Enterprises Ltd, a commercial enterprise of the Puutu Kunti Kurrama people and the Pinikura people, has announced a new joint venture with Alfasi Hire.
Operating under the name 'PKKP-Alfasi Hire JV', the partnership will be based in Karratha and establishes access to a plant and equipment fleet of over 2,500 machines to help supply mining and construction clients in the region.
Alfasi Hire has been in operation for over 40 years and the joint venture with PKKP is the first such endeavour of the group.
Alfasi Hire will provide the equipment, operational and strategic resources, while the PKKP members will directly benefit from the commercial, business, and employment opportunities.
The joint venture with Alfasi Hire is a key part of PKKP's diversification plan, moving away from services that support the iron ore sector and expanding into the construction space.
PKKP Enterprises Ltd General Manager Shaun Burgess said "our members will benefit greatly from the business opportunities that can be generated outside of On-Country mining operations."
The partnership with Alfasi Hire is in addition to PKKP Enterprises' existing fleet of vehicles and heavy machinery available for standalone contracts.
The PKKP Aboriginal Corporation administers the traditional lands and waters of the Puutu Kunti Kurrama people and the Pinikura people between Pannawonica and Tom Price in Western Australia.
The joint venture with Alfasi Hire is a significant milestone for PKKP Enterprises Ltd, which is working towards creating more opportunities for PKKP members in different sectors.
The partnership with Alfasi Hire is expected to bring about significant benefits to the members of PKKP Enterprises, helping them to diversify and create more business opportunities outside of the mining sector.
The partnership is also an important step towards reconciliation in Australia, demonstrating the willingness of industry leaders to work with Indigenous corporations to promote economic growth and create opportunities for Indigenous communities.
