Western Australia's Department of Communities is seeking Expressions of Interest from people with lived experience of family and domestic violence in the state to be part of a new Lived Experience Advisory Group.

The Department wants to hear from people from across WA to form a group of up to 12 members that share their valuable views and provide advice to the Minister for Prevention of Family and Domestic Violence.

Potential members may have direct lived experience as an adult or child or may have supported a community, family member or friend impacted by family and domestic violence.

The Department noted that it is important the Advisory Group has a diverse range of people, including Aboriginal people, people from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse backgrounds, people who are LGBTQIA+, and people with a disability.

Being part of the Lived Experience Advisory Group will give members an opportunity to advocate for positive change within their community. The personal experience and insight of members will contribute to better outcomes for others.

More information about the Advisory Group, including how to access support for applications, is on the WA Department of Communities website.

The application process is open and will finish at 4pm on 14 August 2024.
