Canterbury forward Josh Curran copped a lengthy ban among a mammoth potential 13 matches slapped against three Bulldogs following Thursday night's reality check from Brisbane.

The Broncos handed the ladder leaders their first loss of 2025 at Suncorp on Thursday.

The home side ran in seven tries for a 42-18 win lifting them to second place at the start of round eight against an ill-disciplined visitors in the wet.

Four players in total were binned through the contest - Matt Burton and Sitili Tupouniua joining Curran as Dogs sent off.

Bronco Deine Mariner was removed in the 72nd minute for a high shot in the lead up to the the Bulldogs' third try.

Curran was the first to go in the 10th minute with his side already trailing by two goals.

He was offered a three-game ban by the judiciary on Friday for a shoulder charge on Brisbane's Payne Haas.

The 25-year-old will sit out four matches with an unsuccessful challenge.

Burton can accept a one-game ban, with a second week if found guilty, for a high tackle on Billy Walters.

Tongan international Sitili Tupouniua faces the longest stint on the sidelines after being handed two bans for separate incidents totalling five weeks, or seven unsuccessfully challenged.

Tupouniua was first sighted for a shoulder charge on Brendan Piakura in the first half before his raised knee with ball-in-hand dealt a sickening second blow to Piakura's head after the break.

The second infringement avoided a sin-bin, sparking a swathe of criticism from fans and pundits.

Bulldogs coach Cameron Ciraldo played down the sloppy acts in his post-match press conference.

"I don't know, there was so much going on tonight," he responded when asked if his side's three sin bins were fair.

"It was one of those games that was probably hard to watch, to be honest.

"Everything that could get penalized got penalized…it was a ball-ache to watch, for me. I'm sure everyone else felt the same.

Ciraldo put it down to his men "just trying too hard" after going behind early.

"We were just trying so hard, and a couple of high tackles on the back of that. We've been pretty disciplined for long periods, so we'll fix that pretty quickly."

He'd earlier admitted, after lodging six straight wins, the club were "humbled in that first half".

"We got a lot of praise there the first six or seven weeks, and probably rightly so at times, but the first half just wasn't good enough."

The Broncos lead 34-nil after the first half.
