Cats gun Georgie Prespakis has been pipped at the final hurdle in the AFLW best and fairest to finish second in the competition's top individual honour on Monday night.

A three-vote display in the final round of the home-and-away season wasn't enough to hold onto equal first place after all but one game remained in the season count, with North's Ash Riddell taking home the medal.

Prespakis earned her second All Australian blazer earlier in the night.

She polled in eight of 12 performances for the year, four times named best afield while taking home votes in each of Geelong's five wins.

The 22-year-old finished with 20 votes, three shy of Riddell and two clear of Melbourne's Tyla Hanks in third.

Going to another level in 2025, Prespakis averaged 26 touches, seven clearances and six tackles across the campaign, eclipsing 30 disposals on four occasions.

She finished first for clearances, third for contested possessions, fourth for inside 50s and eighth for disposals overall across the competition before finals.

Earlier this month, Prespakis dominated Geelong's club best and fairest count to take home the medal for the second time.

It came after selection in the AFLPA's 22under22 team for an unprecedented fifth time - alongside Gold Coast's young gun Charlie Rowbottom who did the same.

At Monday's competition-wide awards, Prespakis held on to second spot for a fair portion of the count, with Riddell going on to win the award.

Prespakis' sister, Madison, won the game's top honour in 2020.

The younger sister surprisingly couldn't force her way into the All Australian starting side, slotting onto the bench.

Brisbane's Courtney Hodder (who polled eight votes on Monday, twice best on ground) was named in the honourary team's forward line for her first selection.

An unprecedented 15 players earned their first blazers, with North Melbourne the highest represented after four players got the nod.

Prespakis was the Cats' sole inclusion.

Earlier in the night, Zippy Fish recieved the maximum possible votes to win the Rising Star award after a stellar debut campaign.

The AFLW season caps off on Saturday night with North Melbourne and Brisbane going up against one another for the third consecutive season.
