Naarm will host a two-day forum for First Peoples creatives in October, bringing people together to reflect, network, share information and present ideas for the future of the First Peoples creative industries across Victoria.
The First Peoples Creative Industries Forum, to be held at the Aboriginal Advancement League on October 9-10, is being led by Creative Victoria's First Peoples Directions Circle and supported by Creative Victoria's First Peoples Team.
First Peoples Direction Circle chair, Vicki Couzens, said the organisations were proud to be holding the event in Naarm.
"This is a Mob Only forum to talk about First Peoples creative industries in a culturally safe environment," Dr Couzens said.
"This is open to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists, performers, creative workers and leaders who are living and working in the state, and we encourage you to register your interest to be part of the forum."
The event is for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people only and has a creative and cultural focus, featuring a series of panels, workshops, and talks, with opportunities for First Peoples creatives to connect.
The initiative of Creative Victoria First Peoples Direction Circle - a group of First Peoples leaders and professionals who work across creative, education, community, and philanthropic sectors - is an example embedded self-determination and Indigenous-led voices in development and delivery of Creative Victoria programs and initiatives.
First Peoples creatives and creative workers can register their interest in attending the event, more information available online.
