Luke Beveridge has given every indication Liam Jones will run out to face St Kilda on Saturday after narrowly avoiding a serious neck injury against the Demons in round one.
The Bulldogs' coach said the Indigenous key defender was "99.9 per cent" likely to make a quick return after the defender was taken from the ground after a nasty piece of friendly fire in a marking contest five minutes from half time last Friday.
The 32-year-old came close to disaster in his first game back with his original club when his head made heavy contact with a teammate after being swung away from the drop of the ball by Melbourne's Brodie Grundy.
On Friday, Jones completed the Dogs' captains run training session before Beveridge confirmed he has done enough "at the moment" to feature in round two.
"His (Jones') mentality all week has been 'I think I'm going to be fine'", Beveridge said on Friday.
"He's been cleared by all the specialists. We won't play if there's any risk at all.
"He's 99.9 per cent absolutely going to play tomorrow unless he sleeps funny and wakes up with a creak in his neck or something like that. But he's fine."
The Bulldogs face St Kilda on Saturday night at Marvel Stadium in Melbourne.
