A man remains in a critical condition in hospital, and three people have been charged, after a "violent incident" in a remote Aboriginal community earlier this month.
On Tuesday afternoon, Northern Territory Police said two male teens and a man had been arrested over an incident on April 11 where a 25-year-old male was allegedly assaulted in the Ngukurr community, 330 kilometres south-east of Katherine.
"It is alleged a 15-year-old male threw two edged weapons at the victim, which narrowly missed, before a 20-year-old male launched projectiles at him via a slingshot, one of which caused a laceration to his head," a NT Police statement read.
"After falling to the ground, the victim was allegedly hit in the head with a blunt weapon by a 16-year-old male."
Police say the 25-year-old man was initially treated at the local clinic.
However, "after his condition worsened on 14 April, he was conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital in a critical condition with life-threatening injuries to his head".
Last week, the two teenagers and the adult male were arrested in the community.
They have all been charged with intention to cause serious harm, recklessly endangering life, unlawfully causing serious harm and being armed in public.
All three remain in custody and will face court in May and June.
NT Police say they believe the incident is part of a long-standing family group conflict.
"Police are continuing to work closely with Traditional Owners and key community stakeholders to strengthen engagement efforts and help reduce tensions within the community," they said.
