Homicide Squad detectives have charged a 38-year-old man following an investigation into the death of a 39-year-old woman in Mowanjum Aboriginal Community in Derby on Sunday.
About 7.45am on Sunday, police and paramedics responded to a call at a residence on Fourth Street.
Upon arrival, emergency services found the woman unresponsive and provided immediate first aid. She was conveyed to Derby Hospital by paramedics, where she was later declared deceased.
It will be alleged that earlier that morning the woman had been assaulted by the man, who was known to her.
WA Police believe the incident is family violence related.
The 38-year-old man was located at the scene and arrested. It will be further alleged, he breached a 72-hour police order issued the day prior, and protective bail conditions.
The man, who is from Derby, has been charged with murder, the Breach of a Police Order, and the Breach of Protective Bail Conditions
He is due to appear before the Derby Magistrates Court today, 22 April.
