The Northern Territory government has announced Stage 2 evacuation measures to support flood evacuees from the communities of Nauiyu and Palumpa.
From Friday, evacuees from Palumpa will be transferred to the Batchelor Outdoor Education Unit.
It is anticipated that from Monday, 23 March, evacuees from Nauiyu will be transferred to accommodation facilities at the Batchelor Institute.
In an announcement late on Thursday, Chief Minister Lia Finocchiaro said the locations will provide greater privacy and improved access for children to schooling and essential services.
Catering and security will be provided.
The Chief Minister said the recovery at Nauiyu and Palumpa will take time, and there is a need to move evacuees to Stage 2 of the evacuation.
"I want to acknowledge and thank the Batchelor Institute and local stakeholders for their support in accommodating evacuees during this challenging time," she said.
"We recognise the prolonged impact on these communities, particularly Nauiyu residents, who have now faced evacuation twice in recent months, and we remain committed to supporting them through recovery."
The federal and Northern Territory governments recently extended assistance to more Northern Territory communities impacted by severe weather and flooding.
