NSW Police are seeking public assistance to locate an Indigenous teenager who has been missing from Narrabri since mid July.

Michael Kirby, 18, was last seen at Narrabri Railway Station on Friday, 17 July.

NSW Police said officers attached to Oxley Police District were notified about his disappearance on Saturday 15 August at 4pm and commenced inquiries into his whereabouts.

Police said they hold concerns for Mr Kirby's welfare as his disappearance is out of character.

He is described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, about 175cm-180am tall, of thin build, with short black hair and brown eyes.

Mr Kirby was last seen wearing a grey hoodie with a black sleeveless puffer jacket, black track pants and Nike sports shoes.

He is known to frequent the Narrabri area.

Members of the public with information about Mr Kirby's location are urged to contact Crime Stoppers on1800 333 000 or online.

NSW Police said information is managed on a confidential basis while reminding the public not to report information via NSW Police social media pages.
