Aboriginal Investment NT has announced that Round 3 of its Business Grants Program will open on Monday 17 November, marking a milestone in supporting Aboriginal economic growth, innovation and empowerment across the Northern Territory.

Following two successful rounds that have already made an impact across multiple industries, this next stage continues Aboriginal Investment NT's mission to foster self-determination, local leadership and intergenerational wealth creation for Aboriginal Territorians.

The organisation's vision is clear: to enable Aboriginal people to take control of their economic futures and strengthen the Northern Territory's economy through thriving Aboriginal-led enterprises.

The Northern Territory is home to some of Australia's most resourceful, resilient and innovative entrepreneurs. From the red centre to the tropical Top End, Aboriginal businesses are increasingly shaping the future of industries such as tourism, agriculture, construction, creative arts, health and environmental management.

Through its Business Grants, Aboriginal Investment NT provides essential financial support to help these businesses increase their size, scale, diversity and maturity, while boosting Aboriginal employment across the region. By strengthening local supply chains and developing industry capability, the program contributes directly to the Territory's long-term economic growth and resilience.

One of the key lessons learned from the first two rounds was the need for simpler and faster application processes. Aboriginal Investment NT listened.

Feedback from previous recipients has driven a major overhaul of the process for Round 3, making it more efficient and accessible than ever. Applications will now move through two clear stages. First, applicants will complete an eligibility form, which will be reviewed to confirm they meet the necessary criteria. Once deemed eligible, applicants will be invited to submit a full application for the grant. This two-step approach ensures that only eligible applicants move forward, saving valuable time for both businesses and assessors.

To further support applicants, Aboriginal Investment NT is introducing three new tools to help navigate the process: A self-assessment checklist will help determine whether a start-up or growth grant is most suitable. An eligibility checklist will outline all key criteria to ensure applicants meet requirements before applying. A documents checklist will help businesses gather the right supporting materials in advance.

These tools will soon be available on the Aboriginal Investment NT website, providing clarity and confidence for Aboriginal entrepreneurs across the Territory.

In line with its commitment to responsiveness, Aboriginal Investment NT will assess applications on a rolling basis once the round opens. This means eligible Territorians will not need to wait for closing dates and funding can flow directly into communities as soon as applications are approved. Applications will remain open until all funding is allocated, ensuring that every eligible Aboriginal business has an opportunity to access support.

This model is designed to put control back in the hands of Aboriginal Territorians, reinforcing the principle of self-determination that underpins Aboriginal Investment NT's work.

The Business Grants Program is not just about business, it is about building sustainable futures. Each investment supports the creation of local jobs, skills development and pathways to intergenerational wealth, ensuring that Aboriginal people across the Territory can benefit from long-term economic opportunity.

From family-run enterprises in remote communities to large-scale ventures operating across sectors, these grants have already proven to be a catalyst for innovation, growth and empowerment.

More information about Round 3 of the Business Grants, including application tools and guidelines, will be available in the coming weeks. Updates and resources are available online.
