Callum Ah Chee is "zero chance" of running out for Brisbane in 2026 and will instead be at the Crows despite a trade to Adelaide falling through on Wednesday, according to the two-time premiership Lion's management.

The two clubs were unable to come to an agreement on AFL trade period deadline day, ending with unique scenes of Ah Chee's manager Ben Williams fronting the media stood alongside Adelaide list manager Justin Reid.

Ah Chee, who is uncontracted by Brisbane beyond the coming weeks, appears destined to make the move to South Australia via pre-season draft.

"Zero chance," Williams told reporters of the possibility his player at Lions shortly after the trade period closed.

"He's leaving. He's committed to getting to the Adelaide footy club.

"Adelaide used their best endeavours to facilitate a trade. It wasn't to Brisbane's liking. So the only avenue for Cal to get there is through the pre-season draft."

After claiming his second premiership in as many seasons with the Lions last month, Ah Chee informed the club of his intention to move, nominating the Crows as his preferred destination.

Adelaide reportedly have a five-year deal tabled for the 28-year-old.

Negotiations couldn't be met on Wednesday night. It's understood the Lions rejected an offer of a future second and future round third draft picks, having been after a first round selection.

Williams said he was "disappointed" with Brisbane, in an animated address.

"You're talking about a 28-year-old duel premiership player...We've told them for months what we wanted to do, and we tried to go through the front door and be as transparent as possible. And the deal hasn't been done," he said.

The Crows reiterated their own commitment in a statement on Wednesday night, also pointing to the pre-season draft.

"Both Cal, the Club, and his management are all committed to seeing this through," Crows list manager Reid said.

"We have a plan, we are committed to Cal, Cal and his management are committed to us.

"We understand what that looks like, firstly it's around the welfare and support of Cal and his family, so we'll just take a deep breath and work through that.

"We put our best foot forward with what we think was a fair and reasonable deal...At the end of the day, the deal wasn't done, and we are just going to have to take the long route now."

Lions list manager Dom Ambrogio said the club's "main aim has been trying to retain him the whole time", adding the reigning premiers had their own long-term deal infront of Ah Chee.

Ah Chee has played 124 games for the Lions since arriving from the Gold Coast ahead of the 2020 season.

He kicked four goals in their grand final day win over the Swans in 2024.

"At the end of the journey, I don't think there was that much difference between the deals," Ambrogio said, per reports.

"We think he's a great player and we'd love to have him around.

"He'll be disappointed, I'm disappointed for him. But at the end of the day, it was largely out of our control."
