The Cape York Land Council has announced the termination of their chief executive due to the "serious nature of the charges he is facing," following a series of domestic violence allegations.

On Friday, the council released a statement saying they had terminated Dion Creek after it was reported he had been charged with 15 domestic violence and stalking offences allegedly committed over the past five years.

"The Board of the Cape York Land Council, at its meeting held on the 15th of August 2024, terminates the Tenure of Dion Creek as Chief Executive officer with immediate effect," the statement read.

"Mr Creek's Tenure is terminated due to the serious nature of charges he is facing. The Board expressed concern for the welfare of the victims of domestic violence.

"The Board expressed its unequivocal support for state and Federal Government policies to stamp out domestic and family violence.

"The Cape York Land Council adopts a zero-tolerance approach, nor does it condone such behaviour."

Mr Creek has reportedly been charged with four counts of assault occasioning bodily harm aggravated by domestic violence, one count of unlawful stalking aggravated by domestic violence, one count of common assault aggravated by domestic violence, and nine counts of contravening a domestic violence order.

He was suspended from the Torres and Cape Hospital and Health Service board by Queensland's Health Minister Shannon Fentiman after the allegations came to light.

Mr Creek was refused bail after his appearance at the Cairns Magistrates Court on August 12.

He will next face court on October 11 for a committal hearing.
