The Bombers have put a line through youngster Tex Wanganeen for the remainder of the current season.
The club confirmed a foot injury picked up in recent weeks has spelled the end of his year.
"Tex unfortunately pulled up sore post our round 19 VFL fixture," Bombers general manager of performance Daniel McPherson said this week.
"He had some scans late last week, and will consult a surgeon this week to discuss the best plan of action."
Wanganeen had kicked two goals in his side's heavy loss at Windy Hill.
He kicked a game-high four goals against Southport the following weekend.
The son of former Port and Essendon champion Gavin Wanganeen, the 19-year-old was unable to break into the club's senior side in 2023.
Wanganeen debuted in Bomber's AFL setup in 2022 after coming to the club as a pre-season supplementary selection following a stint training with the team.
He played five senior games last season, including an emotional maiden goal with his dad in the stands against Melbourne in round three.
