Ex-Essendon youngster Jayden Davey has followed in his father's footsteps taking home NTFL club Palmerston's 2025-26 premier men's best-and-fairest.
The son of 2000-2010s Bomber Alwyn Snr, Davey produced a starring contribution in a challenging campaign at his junior club to take out their top award at the weekend's season celebrations.
Davey landed at Essendon in the 2022 draft with a shocking run of injuries curbing his time at the club, beginning prior to landing there with brother Alwyn Jr, before being delisted at the end of 2024 without breaking into the senior side for an AFL debut.
He made the switch to VFL club Port Melbourne for the 2025 season after 18 appearances with the Bombers' seconds the previous year.
His honour at the weekend continued his family legacy at his boyhood club following in his father's footsteps as a best-and-fairest winner there.
The three Daveys, Alwyn Snr and his two sons, made a special appearance together in Palmerston's senior side in 2019.
"For the first time ever, both father and son — Alwyn Davey and Jayden Davey — have won this prestigious award. A milestone that speaks volumes about the Davey family legacy and their impact on our club.
'But this award carries even deeper meaning because of the man it's named after — Warren McCoy."
McCoy is regarded as sitting amongst the list of Territory's footy talent.
The Indigenous defender and premiership winner at the Pies - then called North Darwin - claimed four best and fairest medals at the club during his career between the late 70s and 1990.
"His name is etched into our history because of who he was both on and off the field — a leader, a competitor, and a man who embodied loyalty, pride, and the spirit of the black and white," Palmerston said of McCoy.
"To win an award named after Warren McCoy means you've shown the same qualities he stood for: hard work, consistency, resilience, and heart."

Davey was credited for his leadership and maturity along with performance over the campaign.
Palmerston wrapped their season on Friday finishing bottom of the ladder with a sole win coming just after New Years.
Davey's brother Alwyn Jr was also delisted by Essendon at the end of 2025 after 20 senior games.
He signed with Carlton's VFL for 2026 in January.
