Australia appear on the verge of a historic moment for First Nations representation in the game with Worimi quick Brendan Doggett in the box seat to debut in the first Ashes Test in Perth, starting Friday.
Doggett has been framed as the frontrunner to join Gulidjan seamer Scott Boland in Australia's pace attack following dramatic injury news in the Aussies camp.
Josh Hazlewood, who was initially cleared of a hamstring injury picked up in this week's Sheffield Shield fixture between NSW and Victoria, won't travel to Western Australia after being ruled out of the match.
Secondary scans confirmed a worse picture for the 34-year-old, confirmed by Cricket Australia on Saturday, with two-time Test player Michael Neser rushed into camp as cover.
However its Doggett who's expected to receive his Baggy Green.
It comes after recent inclusions in the Test squad, both last summer and for June's World Test Championship final in England.
Across two Shield matches to start the summer, Doggett took 13 wickets at 14.69 and an economy of 2.59.

He'd earlier been racing the clock to return from his own injury setbacks to play for South Australia.
If selected, he'll become the third Indigenous man to play Test Cricket alongside Boland and 1990s-2000s fast bowler Jason Gillespie, and fifth overall, joining mid-century trailblazer Faith Thomas and current star Ash Gardner.
Never has two Indigenous cricketers lined up in the same Test side.
Other Indigenous cricketers, including D'Arcy Short and Dan Christian, have represented the national side in white ball formats.
Doggett's potential inclusion comes after back-to-back first innings 5-fa's for South Australia.
"It has been a bit different for me. I've not had this much attention around my bowling," Doggett said this week," via cricket.com.au.
"Ryno's (former Test bowler and South Australia coach Ryan Harris) been really helpful for me with that, coaching me through that off-field stuff that has been happening.
"He has been really good at keeping my attention on what I can control, playing for South Australia, and if that does come up, like I said, I feel like I'm ready, he thinks I'm ready, so that's where the confidence is probably coming from."
He and Boland are likely to make up the three man frontline quick attack with Mitchell Starc, with regular skipper Pat Cummins also sidelined.
Allrounders Cameron Green and Beau Webster could take some weight off their responsibilities, pending selection, after their own strong performances for their respective states during the week.
How Australia's XI batting order shapes up remains unclear.
Steve Smith will captain the side for the series opener.
English quick Mark Wood has been cleared of his own hamstring concerns six days out from day one.
Elsewhere, Kamilaroi seamer Charlie Anderson has been selected for a Cricket Australia XI set to face the England Lions beginning 21 November.
