The Young Aboriginal Leaders' Scholarship initiative has been opened by the Tasmanian Government.
The 2023 program is designed to encourage young, Aboriginal people living in Tasmanian to follow their cultural, career or leadership goals.
Tasmanian Minister for Aboriginal Affairs, Roger Jaensch, said the Scholarship Program promotes career pathways and enhances leadership opportunities for aspiring young Aboriginal leaders.
"This Scholarship Program supports young Aboriginal people to pursue their career or leadership goals and to be role models for other young Aboriginal people," Minister Jeansch said.
Mr Jaensch said the scholarship program is part of the state government's vision "for all young people to be valued, encouraged and supported to be the best they can be".
The scholarship aims to support recipients to become future leaders and role models for other young Indigenous people, with up to $5000 per scholarship is available from a total pool of $10,000.
Aboriginal people, aged 15 to 29, who live in Tasmania can apply for the scholarship.
Applications require a maximum 1500 word response outlining how the scholarship would assist the applicant in an activity or leadership opportunity, the applicants past and current community involvement and how the applicant intends to use their new skills to benefit themselves and the community.
Applications for the scholarship program close 15 September, 2023.
