On the 18th and 19th of April 2023, the First Nations Leadership & Allyship Summit will take place on Gadigal Land at the Sydney Boulevard Hotel. The flagship event promises to "inspire, champion, and support" First Nations leadership government, business and non-government organisations.

Following a successful summit in 2022, this year's event has been designed to provide a platform for First Nations leaders to share their experiences and advice on the path to leadership, for allies to share how they can better support their team members, and for businesses to discuss the strengths of First Nations leaders and communities and what they can bring to workplaces.

The summit will also provide an opportunity to identify and discuss how organizations can contribute to reconciliation through First Nations' self-determination and economic growth through their day-to-day business.

The summit's agenda is packed with informative sessions led by prominent First Nations leaders and Allies. Attendees will hear first-hand accounts of leadership and growth from senior First Nations leaders and discover powerful lived experiences and advice on balancing culture with career and leadership. Senior First Nations allies will provide candid advice on how to better support First Australians in the workplace. The summit also aims to explore the challenges that still face the First Nations community in our workplaces and what can be done to overcome them.

One of the highlights will be the keynote speech by Adnyamathanha man, legendary AFL player, community leader, and anti-racism advocate, Adam Goodes. A long-time advocate for Indigenous Australians, Goodes was named the Australian of the Year in 2014 for his community work and advocacy in the fight against racism, empowering the next generation of Indigenous Australians.

Other key speakers include Mi'gmaq woman and Canadian Deputy Minister Deborah Richardson and Mandy Young, a Gomeroi woman and Chief Operating Officer at the NSW Department of Customer Service.

Assistant Secretary of the First Nations Aged Care Branch at the Department of Health Michelle Steele, a Kamilaroi/Gomeroi Yinarr woman, will also be speaking about her personal journey as an Indigenous woman in leadership across the public and private sector.

The summit will also feature a range of panel discussions, including an ally panel yarn on inclusive leadership and driving reconciliation in the private sector. For more information on the summit visit https://the-hatchery.co/event/first-nations-leadership/agenda/
