Port Adelaide have accepted a one-match ban offered to midfielder Jason Horne-Francis for his bump on St Kilda's Liam Stocker, only extending their lengthy list of outs ahead of hosting ladder-leaders Fremantle on Saturday.
Horne-Francis was offered a week on the sidelines for rough conduct after electing to bump Stocker mid-way through the final quarter. The bump was graded high, careless conduct and medium impact by the match review officer.
On Monday, Port confirmed they wouldn't contest the ban, having compared the charge with similar examples from the season and finding "no realistic basis to challenge" the medium impact grading.
"Horne-Francis elected to bump and left the ground at the point of contact, the contact was high and felled the player, which meets the threshold for medium impact," the club explained on Monday.
"Horne-Francis will miss Saturday's match against Fremantle."
The Power were already facing selection headaches, particularly for their midfield, given a massive injury toll furthered in the loss to the Saints, including star Zak Butters' requiring surgery for an ankle injury picked up in the clash.
Yanyuwa man Lachie Jones was one of four Power players injured during the match.
Six players at the club are already nursing season-ending injuries, including captain Connor Rozee.
Following a return to SANFL football after back-to-back ACLs, Sam Powell-Pepper has had the decision made on his behalf by the club to eye an AFL return in 2027, coach Josh Carr recently confirmed.
Elsewhere, Hawthorn have confirmed Karl Amon will undergo minor surgery on a knee complaint he's carried through the season, with hopes he'll return before finals.
Amon has missed only a couple of games for the year and played in Saturday's 10-goal win over Carlton at the MCG.
"Karl is expected to undergo a minor clean up procedure on his knee this week," Hawks general manager of football Rob McCartney said.
"This has been in consideration for a number of weeks. While Karl has had some intermittent pain throughout the season, there was no further risk in him playing games.
"We expect Karl to be available for selection before finals."
