Indigenous Voice Co-design Process Report co-authors Professor Tom Calma and Professor Dr Marcia Langton will receive honorary doctorates from the University of South Australia on Thursday for their service to the community.

Their paper, often called the Calma-Langton report, has been central to ongoing discussions on the Voice ahead of the election, often as a point of reference for the merits of the proposal pointed to by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.

Ahead of their honorary-academic acknowledgement, Prof. Calma and Dr Langton are poised to address the University's Bob Hawke Prime Ministerial Centre.

Leading Thursday's discussion - The Voice: How the final co-design report enables an effective design for Indigenous advice to the parliament and executive government - the pair will dissect their personal experiences, explore the merits of a Voice to Parliament and how it may function should the nation vote in its favour later in the year.

Common misinformation within discourse surrounding the Voice will also be addressed.

Professor Calma is a former Senior Australian of the Year winner, graduate of the University of South Australia, was an inaugural winner of the University's alumni award in 2015 and patron of its Deadly Alumni Association.

"Our newest honorary doctors have worked tirelessly for the improvement and advancement of Aboriginal Peoples' rights and empowerment," University of South Australia Vice Chancellor Professor David Lloyd said.

"They continue to have a significant impact on public discourse and bring attention to the rights, responsibilities, and welfare of Aboriginal Peoples at community, state and international levels.

"We hope their unwavering dedication inspires our students to make their own positive impact on the world and make our communities safer, fairer and more inclusive places to live and thrive."
