First Nations streetwear came out to play during the Urban Oasis runway as part of Melbourne Fashion Festival last night.
With themes of social politics and a mixture of slouchy and more structured pieces, it was a runway which celebrated the identity of First Nations streetwear.
Accessories label Haus of Dizzy and labels Ginny's Girl Gang, Gammin Threads, Nungala Creative, Yanggurdi and Amber Days all showed on the runway.
Tiwi model Cassie Puruntatameri opened the show in a double denim set by label Ginny's Girl Gang.
While Wiradjuri model James Parr walked for Yanggurdi, Nungala Creative and Chris Ranlin.
Arguably, Amber Days in collaboration with Kinya Lerrk stole the show with their collection of kids clothing on the runway.
The (smaller) models strutted the label's designs flawlessly, captured the crowd's attention and won the biggest applause of the night.
Yanggurdi founder and designer Cassie Leatham said in future she's looking forward to creating more sustainable fashion for the future.
"I'd like to move forward with the adventure of creating sustainable fashion for the future and making people aware as well," she said.
"We have to protect country and we have to look after each other.
"And hopefully Yanggurdi can make people go walk about in really comfortable clothes and explore Country at the end of the day."
Melbourne Fashion Festival concludes on March 11.
