NSW Police are appealing for public assistance to locate an Indigenous man missing from Sydney's Inner west.

Patrick Weldon, 39, was last seen on Flood Street, Leichhardt, on Friday 2 October.

When Mr Wheldon was unable to be located or contacted, officers attached to Leichhardt Police Area Command were notified and commenced inquiries into his whereabouts.

NSW Police said "serious concerns" are held for Mr Wheldon's welfare.

Mr Wheldon is described as being of Aboriginal/ Torres Strait Islander appearance, 170-175cm tall, with a medium build and short dark hair.

He has a tattoo of the Aboriginal flag on his right bicep with "Weldon", a text tattoo on his left forearm, a skull tattoo on his left hand and a text with the word "one" on his right forearm.

Mr Wheldon was last seen wearing a black and white cap, black shirt, black pants and red jacket.

He is known to frequent the Lilyfield area.

Members of the public with information regarding Mr Wheldon's whereabouts are urged to contact Leichhardt Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
