Queensland Cricket has announced seven of the state's Indigenous players have been selected for this month's National Indigenous Training Camp.
A partnership between Cricket Australia and the MCC Foundation, the camp, held in Melbourne, provides additional high performance training for Indigenous pathway players identified through state initiatives and the National Indigenous Cricket Championships.
Five female and two male players from Queensland will attend the camp, including Queensland representatives Carys Underwood (Kaomu) from the Sunshine Coast Cricket Club and Kameryn Bray (Wiradjuri) from Wynnum District Cricket Club.
Incumbent members Clodagh Ryall (Kaurareg) from Wynnum Manly Cricket Club), Grace Abdy (Waanyi & Ganggalida) and Christina Coulson (Kaurareg), both from Valley District Cricket Club, have also been selected to attend the camp.
Coulson, who captains Queensland women's Indigenous team attributed the growth of Indigenous women's cricket to an increase in the state's pathway programs.
"We've had a core group of players that have been around the squad for a number of years, however we are now uncovering more and more talent with the increased exposure of Queensland Cricket's Indigenous programs" Coulson said.
Queensland Cricket have developed numerous Indigenous cricket initiatives in recent years, including the Michael Mainhardt T20 Indigenous Challenge.
The state also plans to hold a female Indigenous talent development camp, the Mosaic Cup - where an Indigenous Development XI will face a Multicultural XI, and regional statewide Eddie Gilbert programs this season.
The National Indigenous Men's Training Camp squad will include Cruz Baker (Dharug) from Norths District Cricket Club and Dylan McLachlan (Wiradjuri) from Valley District Cricket Club).
Baker has been selected to attend the Training Camp for the second consecutive year and is joined by McLachlan, who made his List A debut for Queensland last season.
Last season, both the men's and women's squads played out nailbiters against a MCC XI at the MCG.
The National Indigenous Training Camp will be held in Melbourne from November 18 to 22.
