All Australian forward Courtney Hodder hasn't been seen in the Lions jumper so far in 2026, with it now revealed she and her partner are expecting their first child in April next year.

The Indigenous star, 26, pulled on green and gold in the inaugural match between Australia and Ireland at North Sydney Oval on August 1, but has not played for Brisbane this season.

She will sit out the remainder of the season.

"We (with partner Kana) are absolutely over the moon and feel incredibly lucky to be starting this next chapter together," Hodder said.

"April can't come quickly enough! We're so excited to meet our little Baby Brill and, most of all, we can't wait to become Mum and Dad.

"It's been a special secret to keep, and being able to finally share our news is pretty surreal."

The rugby union convert and two-time AFLW premiership forward has made 77 appearances for the Lions since 2021.

Hodder earned her first All Australian selection last season.

""I'm so excited to share this journey with my team because how cool is it to gain 30 aunties instantly!"

"We're so lucky to have the best support around us, and this baby is already so loved.

"We can't wait to see what life looks like as a family of four, including our fur baby, Kiwa."

Hodder will aim to return for the 2027 season.

She is contracted at the club until the end of next year, signing a lengthy extension following their premiership success in 2023.

"We are thrilled for Courtney and Kana and the exciting chapter which lies ahead for them," Brisbane general manager of women's football Daniella Smith said.

"We will miss her on the field this season, but we're lucky to still have Courtney around the group, attending training and contributing her expertise in our team meetings.

"Courtney is hopeful of returning for the 2027 season."
