St Kilda forward Lance Collard will front a disciplinary hearing on Thursday afternoon following his alleged use of a homophobic slur in a VFL match on March 27.

Investigations were launched shortly after the round 2 game against Frankson, where Collard is expected to be handed a multi-week ban if found guilty.

The 21-year-old was previously banned for six weeks in 2024 for the use of multiple homophobic slurs in a VFL game, and could be the first player sanctioned for the same offence twice.

In a statement last week, the AFL flagged the hearing and confirmed it had referred a charge of an alleged breach of Rule 2.3 (a) (Conduct Unbecoming) against Collard — the same he was found guilty of two years ago.

He apologised at the time, saying "I am incredibly remorseful for my comments and any hurt they may have caused" and "I'm disappointed in myself and fully accept the consequences for my behaviour".

Through the recent investigations, Collard has reportedly denied he used a slur against the Dolphins, and instead said "maggot".

Media will have access to Thursday's hearing. t

In recent seasons, six players — including Collard — have been handed bans for homophobic comments, carrying sanctions of between three and six games.

Collard has made fifteen AFL appearances for St Kilda since his 2024 debut, with his current deal set to expire at the end of 2027.
