Burgoyne set to miss remainder of AFL season

Injured utility Jase Burgoyne is set to be the ninth Port Adelaide player ruled out for the rest of the AFL season.

Burgoyne is suffering a lower leg injury and is expected to join a list including Miles Bergman, Jason Horne-Francis, Esava Ratugolea and Sam Powell-Pepper who won't play again this year.

The 22-year-old Burgoyne, who had been enjoying a breakout year with a career-best average of 19.20 disposals a game, hurt the plantaris muscle in last week's heavy loss in Geelong.

"It will sound a bit silly, it's not that bad, but bad enough that he may not play again this year," Power coach Ken Hinkley told reporters on Wednesday.

Burgoyne, if needing surgery, will be the 19th Power play to go under the knife since January.
