The Australian Electoral Commission has received no complaints from Senator Jacinta Nampijinpa Price or the Country Liberal Party about remote polling booths in the federal election, despite claims by the senator that the booths warrant an investigation and that the AEC has been "alerted" to alleged problems "over and over".

On Saturday evening, after it became clear the Coalition has suffered a severe defeat in the polls, Senator Price told the ABC: "Send an investigative journalist out and watch what occurs in remote polling booths."

"The AEC has been alerted to this over and over and do very little to deal with that situation," she said.

"I urge the ABC, as a taxpayer-funded organisation, to go out to remote communities and see for yourself exactly what occurs, because I'm deadly serious about the situation."

A spokesperson for the Australian Electoral Commission told National Indigenous Times on Tuesday: "No complaint has been made to the AEC."

In April, Senator Price called on the Commission to maintain the integrity of voting in remote areas, arguing that in her experience, some Indigenous voters are "exploited".

In October 2023, after remote Indigenous communities voted overwhelmingly in favour of the Voice to Parliament, which Senator Price opposed, the Senator questioned the impartiality of the Commission and claimed "manipulation" occurred at remote booths.
