Gulidjan cricket star Scott Boland has swept India aside at the SCG, leading Australia to victory with test career-best figures of 10/76.

Boland exploited the conditions and put on a movement master class, taking 6/45 in India's second innings to add to his 4/31 in the first dig, scything through the tourists' vaunted batting line-up.

The Indians were all out for 157, with the only real defiance coming in the form of keeper Rishahb Pant's explosive 61 from 33 balls.

In the absence of India's standout bowler Jasprit Bumrah, who suffered back spasms yesterday, Australia made short work of the target, racing to 4/162 at a run a ball to chase down victory.

Bumrah was later named player of the series.

Debutante allrounder Beau Webster played a key role in the win, scoring a composed 57 in the first innings, out of 180, and 39 not out off just 34 deliveries in the second, in addition to picking up a wicket in India's second dig and bowling tightly in their first.

Named player of the match, Boland said: "It's been a really enjoyable couple of months."

"I didn't think I would take too much part in the series. But I was prepared. Just got my body right, did some gym work and here I am," he said.

"It was awesome. To win 3-1 against India, hasn't been done for a while. It was awesome. I am just happy to play the part whenever possible."

Boland has played just 13 tests despite a remarkable debut against England in 2021 and consistently excellent form.

A favourite of fans and pundits alike, the case for Boland becoming a permanent fixture in Australia's test XI seems irresistible.
