The PKKP Aboriginal Corporation have purchased the historic Nanutarra Homestead in the West Pilbara.

The homestead complex was built in the 1880s, is 120 kilometres south of Onslow and situated on 64 hectares of land.

PKKP Aboriginal Corporation chief executive Grant Wilson said the heritage listed homestead is extremely important to the Puutu Kunti Kurrama and Pinikura (PKKP) people.

"The PKKP have a significant connection to the homestead and surrounding land, due to it being the birthplace and cultural meeting point for generations," Mr Wilson said.

"PKKP people also played a central role in the operation of Nanutarra station for many years and the connection to the homestead cannot be underestimated."

The PKKP Aboriginal Corporation administers the traditional lands and waters of the Puutu Kunti Kurrama people and the Pinikura people on their behalf. These lands and waters cover approximately 10,888 square kilometres of Western Australia's Pilbara region, between Onslow and Tom Price.

Mr Wilson said the PKKPAC intend to restore the homestead and surrounding land as a cultural and community hub and, at a later point, develop a cultural tourism facility.
