2023 mid-season pick up Robert Hansen Jr has earned an extension will North Melbourne after breaking into the senior side late in the year following impressive VFL form.

The 20-year-old agreed to a one-year deal to remain at Arden Street in 2025 alongside contract confirmations for teammates Will Phillips and Toby Pink, the club confirmed on Tuesday.

After missing out at the national draft, Hansen arrived at the Kangaroos with the second pick of the 2023 mid-season rookie draft after proving his worth during a short stint in the WAFL.

The Mines Rovers product from WA's Goldfields Football League made his way to Victoria after promotion to Subiaco's league side following a single game in the reserves to start last season.

He made his AFL debut in round 20 adding a second appearance the following week.

Hansen kicked 15 goals from 14 VFL games in 2024 - including a 18 touch, 4 major effort in North's six-point win over Casey in round 13, before being brought into the senior side to round out the AFL season.

He added four goals from six games, including a team-high 2.1 against he Western Bulldogs in round 23.

"He showed he can offer some spark to our forward line with his speed," Kangaroos head of football talent Brady Rawlings said.
