Laurie Daley is expected to be announced NSW Origin coach, returning for his second stint after seven years.
Replacing Michael Maguire, Daley, who coached the Blues for five series between 2013-2017, has reportedly won the race for the job over other candidates - including NSW assistant coach Matt King.
The Raiders icon produced a six win - nine loss record in his previous tenure, leading the side to their drought breaking 2014 series win.
Maguire's appointment is set to come after weeks as the hotly-tipped option following his departure to coach the Broncos following the Blues come-from-behind triumph in 2024.
Daley represented the Blues on 23 occasions throughout his career.
The Wiradjuri man was named at five-eighth in the Indigenous Team of the Century in 2008, and previously served as long-time coach of the Indigenous All Stars.
The decision is expected to be made official on Monday.
