Lions forward Callum Ah Chee says his side are "ready for anyone" ahead of a do-or-die preliminary final rematch with Carlton this weekend.

On their way to last year's decider, Brisbane overcame the Blues five goal start to run away 16-point winners at the Gabba, and lock in their first grand final appearance in 19 years before falling four points of lifting the cup over Collingwood.

Another crack at it looked worlds away after a slow start in 2024 - starting 0-3 and registering just four wins to the mid-way point of the season - before growing to one of the competition's form sides with a stretch of nine straight wins after the bye.

Despite a home loss to GWS and another failed chance to prove MCG performance doubts wrong over Collingwood in the final three rounds of the home-and-away season, Ah Chee felt his side showed positive signs and "played some really good football in those games" before solid preparations during the pre-finals bye.

"We're ready for anyone. We want to be the best teams, so we're looking forward to it," Ah Chee said on Monday.

He later added "we feel like our best football can beat any team in the comp".

The Lions fell one-point short during opening round in their only previous test against the Blues this year, with a win at the weekend setting up a semi meeting with the loser of Saturday afternoon's all-Sydney qualifier.

Ah-Chee sealed a two-point win at the Gabba over minor premiers Sydney in round 19, before inaccuracy in front of goals cost his side against the Giants - losing by 18 points despite seven more scoring shots.

The 26-year-old assured fans "everyone's going to work with their goal kicking, and it's up to individuals now to just make the most of those opportunities".

"We all know we can kick goals, we've just had some patches where we haven't. The boys, like I said, have gone to work," he said.

Brisbane kicked an equal competition-high average of 13.3 behinds a game in 2024 - marginally higher than their league-wide sixth of 13.2 majors.

Ah Chee has kicked 17.9 in what's presented as a career-best season overall.

"I felt like I've probably played my best football this year and in my career…and feel like I've really contributed to the team this year. And hopefully I can do that for finals," he said.

After 2023's heartbreak, Ah Chee believes his side are accustomed to the up-tick in pressure, intensity and crowd size at the pointy end of the season, and will take something away from going within a kick of the premiership last time around.

"It's what you really want to play for. There's obviously more on the line when you get to this point of the season," he said.

"We obviously played in the biggest game last year, so I think we're in a good position to play this week and we've learned a lot.

"We've learned our lessons from the grand final…now we're going to look into Carlton and focus on them."

He added coach Chris Fagan's message has been around recreating the "flare" and "freedom" which were the main themes within their nine-straight wins setting up a finals berth.

Brisbane host Carlton at the Gabba for an elimination final on Saturday night.
