Riverina Medical & Dental Aboriginal Corporation (RIVMED) has announced an expansion of its services as part of the New South Wales Government's redesign of Family Preservation services.

Announced Thursday morning, the NSW government has awarded 22 Aboriginal Community-Controlled Organisations new contracts under a $350 million investment in the redesigned program.

RIVMED will be expanding its reach as part of this rollout, with the aim of supporting more families across new locations and increasing the number of families with which the organisation works.

"This growth allows us to continue delivering culturally safe, community-led support that meets people where they are," RIVMED said in a statement on Thursday.

"Our services will now extend across the entire Murrumbidgee region, with main sites in Wagga, Griffith, Albury and Young. Families will primarily be referred through the Department of Communities and Justice, ensuring support reaches those who need it most."

RIVMED said a simple goal - keeping kids safe, strong and connected to family, culture and community - is at the heart of their work.

"This is about keeping families strong, connected and supported in their communities," said RIVMED chief executive Peta Larsen.

"We know that Aboriginal-led, culturally safe services lead to better outcomes for our families, and this reform is a positive step in that direction."

RIVMED said the reform of the Aboriginal Family Preservation program gives the organisation "the opportunity to do more of that work, in a way that is led by community and grounded in culture".
