Broome detectives have received praise from Kimberley MLA Divina D'Anna after charging six people over an alleged drug trafficking attempt.
On Wednesday, Ms D'Anna, a proud Yawuru woman, warned that drugs have no place in the Kimberley.
Acting on a tip-off, police searched Broome's postal and freight centres on June 17, targeting suspicious parcels.
Detectives say they uncovered methylamphetamine and cocaine stashed in three consignments shipped from South Australia and Boorloo / Perth. A week later, officers intercepted another parcel in Kununurra, this time containing roughly 573 grams of methylamphetamine.
Police executed search warrants in both Rubibi / Broome and Kununurra, charging six people as investigations continue.
Kimberley Superintendent John Hutchison described the seizure as significant, adding "it is only part of an ongoing effort".
He underlined how illicit drugs fuel dangerous and antisocial behaviour across the region.

"Illicit drugs are a primary driver of a large proportion of offending across the Kimberley. They fuel violence, property crime and harm to vulnerable people," Supt Hutchison said.
Ms D'Anna echoed the warning, pointing out that drug use only deepens hardship for the Kimberley's most vulnerable.
"Broome detectives' work has stopped dangerous drugs from reaching our communities to create further harm and sends a clear message that those who seek to profit from addiction are not welcome here," the MP said.
She urged Kimberley locals to keep reporting suspicious activity, calling for a united front against drug use in the region.
