An Aboriginal corporation in Western Australia's East Kimberley region has appointed a new deputy chief executive, welcoming Carlene Davies into the role.

Waringarri Aboriginal Corporation, based in Kununurra, announced the appointment this week, describing Ms Davies as bringing both strong leadership experience and deep local knowledge.

Ms Davies, a proud Miriwoong and Waanyi woman, was born and raised in the East Kimberley and has a history working in Aboriginal corporations across community engagement, program delivery and leadership.

The organisation said her lived experience in the region gives her a strong understanding of both the challenges facing remote communities and their strengths.

Having grown up in the Kimberley, Ms Davies has seen firsthand the pressures communities face, as well as the resilience and leadership that continue to drive local solutions.

Her appointment comes at a time when the organisation is expanding its support for community-led programs and services across the East Kimberley.
