News has gone from bad to worse at Tigerland with Rhyan Mansell set to miss much of the season with additional injury picked up post wrist surgery.
Mansell, 25, is unavailable for a period yet to be determined after issues with his foot were discovered, Richmond confirmed on Tuesday.
The Pakana forward had already undergone surgery for a fractured wrist suffered during the club's season opener against Carlton.
He was expected to be sidelined for 3-4 weeks before the fresh setback.
"Following his wrist surgery, Rhyan presented to the club with some foot soreness also. We investigated that, and we also detected some bone stress in his foot," Tigers high performance manager Ben Serpell has updated.
"Unfortunately, it's a bit more progressed than where Harry Armstrong's is, and he's actually going to have to undergo surgery later this week and will be out for another three to four months.
19-year-old forward pairing Armstrong was taken off the ground during the Tigers' loss to Fremantle at the weekend with his own foot stress concerns, expected to miss eight weeks.
In all, Richmond's injury list has grown to 11 players after three rounds.
This includes an estimated 5-7 weeks for skipper Toby Nankervis and another month for tall target Tom Lynch, both with hamstrings, without a win on the board as yet.
Premiership player Nathan Broad and Sam Cumming will test for fitness ahead of hosting Port Adelaide this weekend.
It's a frustrating interruption for Mansell, who's out of contract at the end of the year following the two best consistent campaigns of his career in 2024 and 2025.
Backing up a career-high 21 appearances at a goal a game the previous year, Mansell booted 18 majors from 20 games in his most recent campaign.
He was among the Tigers' most impressive in a nail-biting round one loss to Carlton with two goals before heading to surgery.
Mansell signed a two-year extension mid-way through 2024.
He's kicked 52 goals in 72 games since his debut in 2021.
