Indigenous stars Hannah Darlington (Kamilaroi), Anika Learoyd (Gumbaynggirr) and Ella Hayward (Jawoyn) are in line to don national colours in a multi-format series beginning on Wednesday.

The trio have been selected in various Australia A squads who are set to face England A in T20, 50-over and four-day fixtures at Sydney's Hurstville Oval and Cricket Central over the next three weeks.

Darlington and Learoyd have been selected in the 14-player T20 squad following strong Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) seasons with the Sydney Thunder.

Playing all 12 matches in a WBBL season for the first time in her career, Learoyd scored 148 runs at 17.12 with a top score of 31* while Darlington, a bowling allrounder, took 12 wickets at 25.16 and scored 69 runs at 23.00 across six stints at the crease.

Ella Hayward joins Darlington and Learoyd in the 50-over squad after a standout season with Victoria.

The off-spinning allrounder scored 446 runs at an average of 40.54 across 12 innings, highlighted by an unbeaten 112* (126) against South Australia in December while taking 21 wickets at 21.95 with a best bowling of 6/31.

Not to be outdone, Learoyd finished second on the Women's National Cricket League runs table, scoring 577 runs at 48.08 with a high score of 101 (110) against Western Australia at the WACA in January.

The 22-year-old also played a crucial role guiding New South Wales to victory over Queensland in the WNCL final earlier this month.

Featuring in less than half of New South Wales' WNCL fixtures, Darlington took six wickets at 21.66 while scoring 39 runs down the order.

Despite women's domestic cricket in Australia not including red ball fixtures, both Hayward and Learoyd have been selected in the squad for the one-off four-day match beginning April 12.

National selector, Shawn Flegler said the multi-format series is a crucial component of Australia's elite player pathway, providing some the country's best and most promising domestic players with additional development opportunities and the chance to show selectors what they can do against strong international opposition.

"The National Selection Panel is always looking to the future as we've seen in recent years with Georgia Voll and Phoebe Litchfield transitioning into the Australian team with great success, so this is a great opportunity to get a look at a wide range of players," Flegler said.

"With a one-day world Cup in India this year and a T20 World Cup next year, the 'A' series in particular, will allow us to have a good look at players we think could push for selection."

The series comes following the one-off Australia Green v Australia Gold match held earlier this month, which featured both Hayward and Learoyd.
