They say a picture is worth a thousand words but in this case, I'm not sure if we can put a price on it. With the backing of Canon, the renowned Sunstudios in Sydney has brought together some of Australia's finest photographers in support of the GO Foundation.
The exhibition, returning after a two-year hiatus and named This Time It's Personal, was carefully curated by Nicky Catley, Group Picture Editor at the Australian Geographic, and featured 64 unique photographs that were sold at a discount rate to support the worthy cause raising $20,000 to go to the GO Foundation programs.
GO Foundation was founded by AFL greats Adam Goodes and Michael O'Loughlin with a strong focus on education and providing sports uniforms and equipment to local schools as well as facilitating workshops and presentations on healthy lifestyles and vocational training for Indigenous students. The foundation's bespoke program now also offering scholarships to students in Sydney, Adelaide and Canberra supporting them from primary school to tertiary education.
GO co-founder, AFL premiership player and two-time AFL All Australian Michael O'Loughlin reflected humbly on receiving the generous donation of Sunstudios saying: "The Goodes O'Loughlin Foundation is our legacy. It means more to us than anything we achieved on the footy field".
"Since we started GO, it's gone from strength to strength, but you can't do that without those who provide financial support. It's incredible," he said.
"It fills me with a sense of pride that Sunstudios organised this fundraiser for us and that all the photographers donated their work to support kids engaged in the GO Program. These are people who believe in what we're trying to do."
The Go programs are now supporting over 500 scholars from 26 schools and five universities giving each student access to vital tools and resources needed to succeed in their education.
