New South Wales has continued its longstanding winning streak in the women's division of the National Indigenous Cricket Championships whilst Queensland and Victoria also began the tournament with opening day wins.
New South Wales (2-98) defeated Northern Territory (6-97) by 8 wickets
A run-a-ball 39 from New South Wales veteran Roxsanne Van Veen has lead New South Wales to a comfortable opening round win over the Northern Territory at the National Indigenous Cricket Championships.
The New South Wales opener remained undefeated at Traeger Park as her side easily chased down the Northern Territory's 6-97, with middle order batter Callee Black (22 from 25) also making a strong contribution in the successful chase.
The Northern Territory used seven bowlers in an attempt to defend the low target score, with captain Febi Mansell (1-9 from 2) and medium pacer Natalie Smedley (1-9 from 1.4) the only Territory wicket takers.
Earlier in the match it was Mansell who lead the Northern Territory with the bat, the Glenelg opener scoring 35 from 32 before being run out.

She was supported well by Claremont allrounder Anita Silva (27 from 31), however no other Territory batters managed to reach double figures.
New South Wales veteran Julie Muir (2-17 from 4) was NSW's sole multiple wicket taker, with Taleha Urszulak (1-12 from 3) and Aimee Ravot (1-9 from 3) also picking up wickets in the first innings of the match.
Queensland (8-136) defeated Western Australia (10-88) by 48 runs
Queensland comfortably accounted for Western Australia in the second match of the tournament held at Traeger Park, largely due to rearguard contributions from middle order batters Clodagh Ryall (38 from 40) and Lucy Neumann (21 from 30).
The pair rescued Queensland from a precarious position having been 4-32 early in the innings, with Western Australian openers Rikki Garlett (3-19) and Kavita Peppe (2-27) troubling Queensland's batters with the new ball.
However Ryall and Neumann stabilised Queensaland's innings, putting on 41 for the 6th wicket with 30 Western Australian extras boosting the Queensland total.
In response, Western Australia were bundled out for 88 in the 18th over following a catastrophic batting collapse which saw them lost 8-29.

Western Australia's chase started promising with Veronica Keen (43* from 42) guiding her side to 1-59 before Christina Coulson turned the tide Queensland's way.
She took the tournaments first five wicket haul, ending the innings with figures of 5-12 from just 3.2 overs.
Tracee Williamson (2-9) and Clodagh Ryall (2-16) also took multiple wickets for Queensland.
Victoria (4-119) defeated Northern Territory (2-97) by 22 runs
Victoria dealt the Northern Territory its second consecutive loss on the back of a half-century from opener Tahlia Meier.
Meier was responsible for scoring almost half of Victoria's 119 runs, scoring 58 from 68 balls in an undefeated innings that included three boundaries.
Again extras featured prominently in the Northern Territory's bowling innings, with 35 extras conceded by Territory bowlers.
Jacinta Chandler (1-16 form 4) and Febi Mansell (1-24 from 4) were the Territory's best with the ball, with Jessica Martin (10 from 19) the only other Victorian batter to score double figures.
In response the Northern Territory put together an improved performance with the bat, however fell 22 runs short of the target score.
Openers Febi Mansell (28 from 45) and Anita Silva (27 from 39) made solid contributions, alongside number 3 Jacinta Chandler (23 from 32) however Victoria's bowlers delivered too many economical overs, the Territory falling 22 runs short.
Victoria used nine bowlers in its successful defence, with Cindy Duson (1-9 from 3 overs) and Simone Burridge (1-11 from 2) the only wicket takers.
Round 2 of the women's division of the National Indigenous Cricket Championships continues today with NICC powerhouses New South Wales and Queensland clashing under lights at Traeger Park.
