Ash Gardner's Trent Rockets and D'Arcy Short's NT Strike were both beaten in their respective competitions on Tuesday.

Playing their fifth match of this year's The Hundred completion, Gardner's Rockets were comprehensively beaten by the Manchester Originals at Nottingham.

Sent in to bat at Trent Bridge the Rockets posted a moderate 7/111, highlighted by Nat Sciver-Brunt's 34 (26).

Batting at No. 4, Gardner chipped in with 17 (16), one of four Rockets' batters who compiled a start before losing their wicket inside 20 balls.

Gardner struck a sole boundary in her 29-minute innings before being dismissed by the pick of the Originals' attack, seamer Lauren Filer (3/23) at the 77 ball mark of the Rockets' innings.

In response the Originals were faultless, chasing down the Rockets' score with 18 balls and a full compliment of 10 wickets in the sheds.

Scotland international Karthyn Bryce tore the Rockets' attack apart with a blistering 61* (45), while Australian Beth Mooney (47* from 37) did more than enough at the other end to see the Originals home in what was a comfortable victory.

Gardner finished with figures of 0/28 from her 15 balls.

In Darwin the D'Arcy Short-led NT Strike suffered their first loss of this year's Top End T20 competition at the hands of Bangladesh A.

Batting first visitors posted a healthy 4/172 with Afif Hossain top scoring with 41* (40).

Despite the healthy opposition run rate Short was economical with the ball, taking 1/19 from his four overs.

His sole wicket came in the seventh over where he combined with Jordan Silk to pick up Bangladesh A No 3. Saif Hassan (3 from 10).

Both Silk (48 from 41) and Strike No. 3 Connor Carroll (43 from 30) batted well in the Strike's chase, however the home eventually fell 22 runs short.

Short managed a run-a-ball 7 before being dismissed by Ripon Mondol in the third over of the Strike's reply.

The Strike will next take the field against the Chicago Kinsmen on Thursday while Gardner's Rockets face the Oval Invincibles on Friday.
