Indigenous artists have starred at the 2022 Music Victoria Awards held Tuesday night.

More than 200 Victorian music experts, and the largest public voting response in the award show's history, weighed in the judging process.

Following on from Baker Boy's success at the 2022 Arias, which saw him win five awards, the artist once again stole the show, taking home three awards.

The talented Yolngu rapper picked up "Best Regional act", "Best song" and "Best album" for his acclaimed record Gala.

Baker Boy now has a remarkable eight Music Victoria Awards, having snared four in 2018 and one last year.

The success with First Nations talent did not halt at Baker Boy, Indigneous artists remained front and centre throughout the show.

Australia's queen of soul Emma Donovan scored 'Best Group' award for Emma Donovan & Putbacks.

Noongar woman and Naarm-based artist Bumpy picked up the Archie Roach Foundation Award for Emerging Talent, and Melbourne artist Mo'Ju scored the award for Best Soul, Funk, R&B or Gospel Work.

It was a touching moment when Kutcha Edwards performed his own rendition of 'Old Mission Road', paying tribute to one of the most influential and important artists that Australia has ever produced - the late great Uncle Archie Roach.

Archie Roach featured prominently in the Awards' tributes to artists we lost in 2022.
