A gofundme was created for a young Gangalu athlete on the rise, Tuqiri Mason, in order to get him to the NSWCHSSA (NSW Combined High Schools Sports Association) - Secondary Athletics - Championships.

Before reaching the $2500 goal, he first made waves in the athletics scene by smashing a two-decade old 100m sprint record at his own Hastings Secondary College. He bested a time of 11:07 set by Adam Miller with a staggering 10.92 - barefoot.

Mr Mason gave his all at the MNWCHSSA, coming home with two silver medals and qualifying for the NSW All Schools Championships later this month.

In the 100m, he blazed through the heats with an 11:07s. where the next day he placed second in the finals with a time of 11:17s.

Similarly, in the Long Jump he placed second, recording a personal best 6.66m jump.

"I am very proud of my achievements," he told National Indigenous Times.

Now that he has qualified for the All Schools Championships later this month, his family have created a '100 Club' to raise money for all proceeds involved in getting him there to compete.

The '100 Club' allows supporters to donate $20, pick a number between 1-100 and go into the draw to be one of two people selected who will receive $500 back for their charitable donations.

Supporters can visit the above post regarding details on how to enter and show support for Mr Mason.
