New Netflix production Irreverent hit the streaming screens on Dec 11 and has already made the Top 10 most-watched TV shows in Australia.
Currently #3, its relatable sense of humour and array of ecclectic characters has made it a hit with viewers.
Noongar actress Kylie Bracknell plays one of the lead roles, local policewoman Piper, in the small town of Clump.
For Bracknell, this was her first time in a lead TV role after focusing on theatre for several years.
Bracknell said it was thrilling to play the character of Piper after spending so long away from the screen.
"Playing her was a lot of fun, I found it wonderful to unpack her and to mentally and physically work through how to present her to the world," she said.
"I loved playing her so much, it's one of the highlights of my acting career.
"And to be able to work along someone like Colin Donnell I had a sense of safety the whole time and a sense of being able to try things and work in an environment where we could be super efficient, but have fun at the same time."
Bracknell had previously spent time in Far North Queensland working on a theatre show called Beautiful One Day.
She said the time she spent there approximately ten years ago allowed her to bring more to the character of Piper, as a First Nations actress.

"Having spent time there and understanding a little bit about Queensland police and interaction with local mob, I definitely had all of that knowledge to think through and wade through because some of it can be quite heavy," she said.
"And where I arrived at this was wanting to create Piper really fresh.
"And really lean into my experience of being in a small town with wonderful law authorities actually and knowing that my family themselves have been in the force and seeing really positive outcomes of their involvement.
"I think a lot of time in the media, we get a lot of the heavy stuff you know we seldom get a lot of the good stuff so I wanted to find that balance with Piper."
Ahead of Irreverent's release, Bracknell said it's one of the best Australian/American fusion stories she's ever seen on screen.
"Viewers can expect to see breathtaking scenery from beautiful Juru Country and Far North Queensland," she said.
"They can expect to see some really quirky characters, they can hear some fantastic writing, some good one liners, the dark humour.
"They can expect to honestly go on a rise and I think this is one of the best Australian/American fusion stories that I've ever seen on screen, and that's not because I'm in the show!"
Irreverent is available to stream on Netflix or Peacock.
