Prominent Pilbara Indigenous community figure Jolleen Hicks appeared in Karratha Court on Tuesday afternoon.
Ms Hicks entered a plea of not guilty to a charge of breaching a Family Violence Restraining Order.
The matter was adjourned and will be heard at a later date.
Ms Hicks, who is from Roebourne, is known for her work and advocacy in Aboriginal health.
She has worked with a number of community organisations and serves on the board of an important regional Indigenous health alliance.
