Footage has emerged of Rabbitohs' star Latrell Michell's arrest after an alleged altercation with Raiders' captain and NSW Blues teammate Jack Wighton in Canberra in the early hours of Sunday morning showing the 25-year-in distress while surrounded by police.
In the short video Mitchell is heard screaming "my shoulders" while face down on the ground before both men spent the night in jail.
The two friends spent the night together for Wighton's 30th birthday and were arrested at around 4am after an incident described by onlookers as little more than friendly scuffle.
According to the reports, they were wrestling outside of Canberra's Friction nightclub after Wighton was asked to leave by venue bouncers.
They were reportedly charged with fighting in a public place along with a string of offences.
Mitchell was also charged with resisting arrest.
Michael Bagley, the owner of a pub attended by the pair earlier in the evening, is understood to have been celebrating with them.
"If you think they were fighting in any way, shape or form, that's pathetic. That's an absolute joke," he told Seven News.
"They've been hung out to dry."
Another observer told Seven Mitchell was "ripped across the road" and tackled by police during the dramatic scenes.
Their respective clubs issued statements confirming they were aware of the alleged incident and had informed the NRL's integrity unit.
Both Wighton and Mitchell are understood to have been released from custody around 10am Sunday before travelling separately to Sydney to join the Indigenous All Stars squad ahead of flying to New Zealand on Monday for their clash with the Maori All Stars next weekend.
They are expected to face court on February 22, a week out from round 1 of the NRL season.
